Venice in June

Dorsoduro - it's worth going on excursions to Venice in June

Venice in June 2026 – is it worth going? Weather and reviews, air and water temperature, how to dress, whether to swim, prices in hotels and on excursions. What to do and what to see in Venice in June, where to go first and go nearby – tells Eurotraveler.

Like all such cities, real magnets of tourist interest, Venice naturally comes to life with the arrival of the summer season. Even, perhaps, it is completely overflowing.

And therefore, in order not to become an integral part of a full-flowing human river, you will have to carefully plan routes and choose the time, if not for external inspection, then for visiting the main attractions of the “City on the Water”- for sure.

As interest grows, so do prices. Literally for everything: from airline tickets to sightseeing tours. Which, of course, can’t please travelers: who needs to pay more?!

Therefore, having assessed everything sensibly and completely in cold blood, not everyone will want to spend June in Venice. Although, undoubtedly, this month has advantages that, in someone’s eyes, will cover all possible disadvantages and inconveniences.

What exactly are the advantages? Let’s tell you now!

But first –

In Short

  1. What month is the best time to go to Venice? The most “correct” time is April and October. If your main goal is leisurely walks around the city and sightseeing, be sure to go to the “Canal City” in the middle of spring or autumn. Because at this time it is already (still) warm and not too damp here. There are fewer tourists and prices are noticeably decreasing
  2. When is it better to avoid Venice? The peak summer months are not considered the best time to travel. And also November, when the probability of floods increases significantly, wet and dank December and January
  3. How many days do you need for Venice? In 2-3 days you will have time to see the most interesting places (in San Polo and San Marco) plus you will visit Murano and Burano. For a closer acquaintance with Venice, it is better to come for 4-5 days

Venice Weather in June

It has a warm – in the truest sense of the word – and sometimes even a sultry character. The number of rainy days is noticeably decreasing compared to May. This makes it possible to implement the planned program of events in strict accordance with the developed plan.

However, it is not necessary to talk about the strict stability of the weather.

For example, in early June, Venice usually experiences air temperatures of about 25 degrees Celsius. In the second decade of the month, there may be a slight upward movement towards 26-28 °C, as well as a blessed cooling.

Gondolas on the background of the Rialto - it can be hot and cloudy in Venice in June

Yes, that’s right, it is possible that in the middle of June you will be lucky to find in Venice and only 20-22 °C in the afternoon.

Which is actually quite good. After all, this weather is best suited for long walks!

As a result, it turns out that in just 2-3 days you were able to see everything in Venice that (most of all) deserves. Well, figuratively speaking, in this city there will always be something previously unseen and interesting.

It almost always gets hot in Venice at the end of June. The atmosphere regularly warms up to 27-28 degrees, and sometimes the weather forecast promises 30-32 degrees Celsius.

Refreshing breezes from the lagoon and the coolness coming from the canals make life a little easier. But once you find yourself in a sunny place (there are large squares here) and even in a crowd, you don’t feel like beauty…

In the evenings, however, air temperatures drop to a range of 18-22 °C, which is much better suited for promenades and canal trips. And the thoroughly emptying streets and embankments seem to provoke – “stay with us until dawn.”

Is it any wonder that the reviews of the trip to Venice in June are dominated by wild enthusiasm?!

The length of daylight in Venice in early June reaches almost 15.5 hours. And by the end of the month, it even increases by 10-12 minutes. The sun rises above the horizon at about 5.20 am, and sets shortly before 21!

Rains

The number of rainy days is no more than 4-5 for the whole month. The average monthly precipitation, however, is quite high – up to 80-90 mm.

In particular, this means that when packing for a trip, you should not limit yourself exclusively to dresses and sundresses, breeches, shirts and T-shirts. It’s definitely worth putting a light raincoat or even an umbrella in your luggage. Because then you won’t have to pay too much attention to weather forecasts.

The Doge's Palace - there are many tourists in Venice in summer

Sea Temperature

The good news for beach lovers is that you can swim near Venice in June. And there’s nothing to say about sunbathing. Therefore, even on a weekday, the strip of sandy beaches on the side of Lido Island facing the Adriatic Sea is not empty.

Not so expensive hotels in Lido di Jesolo, a popular resort near Venice, are starting to fill up. By the end of the month, vacationers, mostly Italians, begin arriving in the towns of Caorle and Bibione.

There is a simple explanation for this – the sea near Venice warmed up to 21-22 °C in early June. That is, the temperature at which bathing is pleasantly refreshing, but no longer freezes!

By the end of the first summer month, the Adriatic Sea warms up to 24-25 °C.

So if you don’t mind spending a few hours or even days at sea, then in summer you can easily combine this with a visit to Venice. Just don’t forget to bring the necessary things for such a holiday!

After all, swimsuits and sunscreen are usually not put in a suitcase by those who are going to explore the Doge’s Palace and sail a gondola along the Grand Canal.

Prices 2026

To rent a separate apartment or rent a room in a Venetian hotel in early summer, you will have to part with an amount starting from €150 per night (per two). Moreover, it will not be the very center of the city, but also not the outskirts of Giudecca – you can get from the hotel to the San Marco area in 15 minutes, not a particularly fast step.

There are also inexpensive options. In particular, if you agree to a private room with a shared bathroom, you can stay in the center of the “Canal City” for €115-130 per night.

That’s how much rooms are rented at La Dogaressa Guest House in San Polo. The famous Rialto Bridge is just a 3-4-minute walk from the guest house.

We also recommend exploring the offer of the Hotel Delle Rose in Mestre. Where, even in June, you can rent a great room for €110-120 per day. At the same time, you can get to Venice train station by tram in a maximum of 15 minutes!

Again, if you choose this place as a base, you will be able to organize a rich program of movements in the Veneto region. In particular, you can quickly get by train to Verona or Vicenza, not to mention Treviso. Someone might decide to visit Milan in a day!

The cost of excursions in Venice does not depend much on the time of the year. Although, of course, in the summer you should not count on a discount, which is often given here, say, in December.

For a fee of about €40-50, you will be given an entertaining, multi-hour tour of Murano and Burano. And just a sightseeing tour of the “Lightest” together with a guide can be done for € 30-35.

Venice's Burano Island is a must-see in June

What to Do

From the point of view of the opportunities opening up, Venice presents an exceptionally wide field for activity throughout June. After all, you will be able to visit and see (it’s not too hot yet) as many places as you will never be able to in other, less suitable months of the year.

That is, you will fully explore the central areas of Venice. You will visit such little-visited islands as Giudecca and Lido. You can see Murano, walk around Burano and even visit Torcello in 1 day!

Sometimes it is in June – in 2026, however, on May 24th – that an incredibly colorful and positive event known as the Vogalonga takes place in Venice. Which is something like a regatta, where there is no need to come first – vogalonga.com/en/.

During the Vogalonga, hundreds of different rowboats take off from the berths on San Marco and set sail across the Venetian Lagoon. Thus, it clearly signals that another summer has come to the “City on the Water”, a time of happiness and complete contentment with life.

Where to Go Outside

It is absolutely necessary – in our opinion, of course – to carve out a day or even two to visit other interesting places near Venice.

Like Villa Pisani in the municipality of Stra, the aforementioned city of Treviso. Or Padua, which is constantly – and unfairly – deprived of tourist attention.

In just 1.5 hours you will drive from Venice to Ferrara in Emilia Romagna. Whose main attraction is the beautifully preserved feudal castle of the Dukes of Este.

Mountain lovers may also want to visit Cortina d’Ampezzo, a beautiful resort in the heart of the Dolomites, in summer. And citizens who miss the beautiful views will probably decide to get to Lake Garda.

In our opinion, it is the most picturesque in Europe. If not all over the world!
