Phuket in July

There is hot and humid in Phuket in July

Phuket in July 2026 – is it worth going on vacation? Weather, reviews, sea and air temperature, beaches with no waves, hotels and excursions prices. What to do and see in Phuket in early to mid-July, closer to August, what to visit with a child – in a detailed review of Eurotraveler.

It doesn’t need to be an experienced traveler to consider July as one of the best months of the high tourist season. Looking forward to its arrival and actively preparing for the implementation of large-scale vacation plans.

However, a caveat is needed here – “consider” and “prepare” are only required if you plan to have a mid-summer vacation somewhere in Europe or North America!

Because in Southeast Asia and, in particular, Thailand, the measurements and (climatic) conditions are completely different at this time. For whatever reason, Phuket in July cannot be considered a popular and sought-after destination. That is, it couldn’t, of course, – until recently!

After all, it used to be! As after reading reviews and private opinions that eloquently and bitterly described prolonged rains and waves insidiously and universally cancelling any attempts to swim, most of the tourists did not even think about a summer trip to the biggest island of Thailand. But with the advent of strange times – to put it mildly – they started to use openly

Non-Standard Moves

Which – upon careful examination – turned out to be far from being as bad and forced as previously thought. In any case, they stopped to be regrettable.

On the contrary, in most cases they turned out to be such… reasonable, that you were starting to think in a manner like “how didn’t I figure it out earlier”!

After all, in Phuket the weather in July will not seem bad to everyone. Some people are even inclined to admire and at the same time wonder why this month is considered part of the “rainy season”?!

That is, in fact, yes: heat and high humidity are practically guaranteed to you. But the rains, however, usually do not pour in a wall. And a regularly swollen sea can in no way affect regular swims… in the hotel pool (if there is a pool in the hotel, of course).

And there are so many opportunities to have fun in Phuket, that you for a long time will must to choose which interesting events should be included in the schedule. Of a vacation on the tropical seas that sometimes is so short!

It is a good idea to go to Phuket in July on a beach holiday

Do you want to know more the details? Then read on!

Weather in Phuket in July

In the temperature sense, it is characterized by a stable and predictable character. Since as in early July as at the end of it, Phuket watches air temperatures from the range of 29-35 °C (84.2-95 °F) during the day and of 26-30 °C (78.8-86 °F) – at night.

Higher temperatures are registered rare. Well, and lesser ones, as you probably already guessed, never at all!

It seems to be nothing – some people easily go on vacation in July to Dubai, knowing for sure that 40 plus degrees Celsius awaits them. But at the same time, such a climate is not particularly easy to tolerate.

As the strong winds and constantly high humidity (which is stable over 90%) try to unsettle even an absolutely healthy body

Young and active people may even not notice these devastating attempts, driving between the remarkable places of Phuket by bike and participating in excursions or cruises every other day. Anyway, when you read some of the reviews, you won’t find a hint of concern – otzovik.com/review_6768912.html.

But people with a capricious vascular system, allergy sufferers and asthmatics may feel out of place!

We will not relay the opinion that it rains in Phuket in July only at night or, at least, in the evenings. Because this is actually a half-truth: one year it may be like this, and another – completely different.

But there is no doubt that you will have the opportunity to sunbathe. As well as have chances to swim – if you find a beach in Phuket with no waves.

We aren’t talking about enjoying the scenery (and sunsets) in clear weather!

Rains and Winds

The average rainfall in Phuket in July sometimes reaches 270-300 mm. And this is about a third of the total volume of heavenly moisture that falls in a YEAR in such an Italian resort as Lido di Jesolo.

There are no waves on some beaches in Phuket even in July

The winds are also increasing – according to long-term observations of meteorologists, July is the windiest month in Phuket. So (in theory) you will often observe the white-foamed sea and red flags on the beaches.

Which strictly prohibit (don’t joke with this – even an experienced swimmer can drown) the swimming!

It’s Worth Considering

Despite the (possible) abundance of cloudy or overcast days in Phuket of summer version, one should not neglect clothes that hide the skin from the sun’s rays. Also you definitely should take sunscreen on a beach holiday in Thailand.

And use it all the time: both on the beaches and during walks and trips! As the sun, even hidden behind clouds, generously emits copious portions of ultraviolet light trying to burn you down.

Sea Temperature

Of course, it is difficult to accept the frequent bans on swimming. As the Andaman Sea off the coast of Phuket warms up to a tempting 29-30 degrees Celsius (84.2-86 °F) in July.

Actually, some vacationers do not put up with it, constantly looking for an opportunity to swim or just take a dip. At the very time when everyone is diligently sitting on the beaches or has chosen the nearby pool chairs in hotels.

Fortunately, there are places on the Thai island where the sea is not prone to worry.

In this sense, attention should be paid firsthand to the eastern coast, that is, facing the Malacca Peninsula. And to a Phuket beach like Ao Yong, for example.

Is always very good in terms of off-season swimming Nai Harn at the southern tip of Phuket. Along the way it is also a great place to meet sunsets – no worse than the famous Promtep Cape.

Fans of surfing in a fairly safe mode can do it in the waters near Yanui Beach. Snorkeling and diving are also usually very good there.

Even in summer in Phuket snorkeling is possible

Prices in 2026

If a tourist is ready to spend about a day on a one-way trip (Moscow-Phuket), then he will pay for round-trip tickets from 60 thousand rubles or €600 (transit flights through airports in China or Dubai). Direct flights by Aeroflot, which will reduce the loss of time to 10 hours, will cost almost 1.5 times more expensive (from €900-1 000 per passenger).

As for hotels, they are not too expensive on the island during the designated period. For just €25-35 per night, you can rent a room in a very decent and clean object.

It is worth paying close attention to the Ya Nui Resort hotel, having an excellent (rather deep) pool and other great qualities highly evaluated by travelers.

This hotel is not just a quiet and even cozy place away from the noisy coast. It also boasts a literally perfect price-quality ratio.

Another worthy option, the Navatara Phuket Resort, is located in the south of the island, not far from Rawai Beach (where, however, it isn’t possible to swim). Reviews do not hesitate to call it a “great hotel”, as well as “very cozy and beautiful.” There is a free shuttle service from here to Nai Harn Beach.

Car Rental

You will pay an average of 250-300 baht per day ( €6-7) to rent a bike. A tiny car even out of season can be rented for no less than 700-800 baht (19-21 euros).

By choosing vehicles you should remember that traffic in Thailand is on the left. And the rules are observed here much less often than in Western Europe or US.

Tours

A tourist who arrives to Phuket on a holiday in the middle of summer has every right to expect huge discounts when ordering excursions.

The standard price tag for a cruise to Phi Phi, for example, and even with lunch and “relaxation” on Maya Bay is about €45-50 per person. A sightseeing tour of Phuket Town, combined with a visit to Wat Chalong, costs even less – from €25.

What to Do

In this section, we will not write too many letters – only indicate the main directions in which the thought of a non-lazy traveler could move. Others, however, do not come here at this time, because not every day they can count on a seal vacation on the beaches, combined with repeated swimming.

In general, in July, if the weather permits, it is worth traveling a lot around Phuket. Fortunately, prices for excursions at this time fall by 20-25% compared to the high season.

Should spend loads of the time to marveling at nature and watching the picturesque tropical island from different angles and viewing platforms. Not necessarily from well-known ones like those that settled on the edge of Promtep Cape or located near Karon Beach, but also from others.

In the absence of crowds, it makes sense to visit an elephant nursery – the one called Elephant Jungle Sanctuary Phuket.

Perhaps, visit the Tiger Park and try to get vivid impressions in the Bird Park. Although the first one has not been making good impression for a long time, and the second one, judging by the reviews, has deteriorated a lot.

Active and, most importantly, dexterous travelers can try to establish friendly contact with the inhabitants of the local Monkey Mountain. However, this is not so easy to do due to the fact that there are many macaques and they are spoiled by tourists.

A walk through the neighborhoods of Phuket Town, which is exceptionally colorful and truly Thai, will be something like visiting an ethnographic museum.

Where to Go With a Kid

Literally every family vacationer with children wants to visit in Phuket the FantaSea amusement park. Equally, many parents wants to please their offspring with a visit to the largest of the local water parks, Andamanda Phuket.

The place which is quite expensive and have not so adrenaline slides. But to this day allowing anyone under the age of 15-16 to get a lot of fun.

By the way, in the summer you won’t have to wait in line too long

Trips Outside the Island

Are quite expensive but will provide you with memorable emotions the cruises to archipelagos in the Andaman Sea. However, you should keep in mind that in windy, not to mention stormy, weather, trips to Phi Phi or James Bond Island are canceled for safety reasons.

As for the Similan Islands, they are closed to tourists from mid-May to October 15. In eEvery year – to restore the unique nature!
